TOWN OF SHERMAN BOARD MEETING
DECEMBER 14, 2010


The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Jerry Luke called the meeting to order at
7:30 pm. He stated all Officers were present and the notices were placed in three
locations.

Bob Lepper made a motion to deviate from the agenda and move to item # 11.
Gerry Mikula seconded, motion carried. Agenda item # 11: Set Date for Public
Information Meeting-School District Question. This item was prompted by the
large tax increase in 2009 for the school district.

Members from the Mercer School Board were present. Larry Kapugia,
Superintendent of Mercer School District stated that he in only interested in
what is best for both districts and not cause friction between them. The
procedure for changing districts was discussed, including the detachment and
attachment procedures, formal petitions and referendums. Information needs to
get out to residents. The consensus among many present was that the
Chequamegon School District wouldn't want the move due to the large amount
of money that the Town of Sherman pays to the district. After discussion, the
agreement was for Jerry Luke to call the district and get on a school board
agenda. If they are in agreement with the move, then Mercer may be able to get
involved and help with the procedures. The Board thanked them for coming.

Gerry Mikula made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Bob Lepper
seconded, motion carried.

Jerry Luke read the vouchers. Gerry Mikula made a motion to accept the
vouchers as presented. Bob Lepper seconded, motion carried. Betty Larum
asked if voltage was checked. The TOPS scale works fine in the Fire Dept. but
not in Town Hall.

Public Comment: Kal Patzer stated a good job was done on snowplowing and
outside lights have been fixed. He also questioned the Fire # Ordinance. Jerry
Luke stated the VA officer for Iron County would like to hold hours at Town Hall
on Wednesdays. There wasn't a Planning Commission meeting on Dec. 7th. A
hazardous waste collection is being planned in 2011.

Gerry Mikula made a motion to approve the request from Springstead Lake
Lodge. Bob Lepper seconded, motion carried.

Gerry Mikula made a motion to extend listing contract with Hilgart Realty for 6
months. Bob Lepper seconded, motion carried.

Bob Lepper made a motion to approve renewal of Fire Dept. contract and
authorize Chairman to sign it. Gerry Mikula seconded, motion carried.

The estimate and insulation materials for garage were discussed. Bob Lepper
made a motion to authorize insulation materials for heat savings and proceed
within budget. Gerry Mikula seconded, motion carried.

Gerry Mikula made a motion to cancel the second meeting of this month. Bob
Lepper seconded, motion carried.

COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS
CLERK - Gail gave the building permits issued in November and to this date in
December. She read the procedures for the Spring Municipal Election.
TREASURER - Jan read the financial report as of November 30, 2010.
Outstanding check is for County cleanup bill.
CHAIR - Jerry memorialized Vic Schoenicke for his hard work and dedication to
the Fire Dept and Town. He reported on garage insulation, the winter road
maintenance plan, and the WTA meeting on December 17th.
COUNTY - Jerry reported on the 2011 plans for Pri-Ruta and ground water
monitoring. LCC will meet on Wed. the 15th.
SUPERVISORS - Gerry stated Iron County Recycling had extra money this year.
It will be used for employees clothing and safety equipment. He will call Brad to
set a date on application. Bob had nothing further to report.
FIRE DEPT - Fire number ordinance for review is on chief's desk.
FIRST RESPONDERS - Kal stated there was one call since last month.
PLANNING COMMISSION - Bob will follow up on letter that was to be written.
PUBLIC COMMENT - Gail questioned why the Electronics cleanup wasn't
noticed to the residents. Bob stated Patricia sent him an e-mail with concerns on
the old building sale.

Bob Lepper made a motion to adjourn. Gerry Mikula seconded. Meeting
adjourned at 8:50 pm.
