TOWN OF SHERMAN BOARD MEETING
December 12, 2017
The meeting was called to order by Chair Gerald Luke at 6:03 PM. Chair Gerald Luke stated all officers were present. Chair Luke verified the agenda was placed in 4 locations and on the website. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
PUBLIC COMMENT & QUESTIONS – no comments
COMMUNICATIONS/ANNOUNCEMENTS & REPORTS
CLERK – Amy Slone provided information regarding insurance renewal.
TREASURER - Jerry Murrin presented the monthly financial report for the month of November.
CHAIRPERSON – Gerald Luke provided information on Chair's activities and correspondence.
SUPERVISOR KESSLER – Supervisor Kessler got the WISLR PACER ratings submitted. He is on the Iron County elder committee which will receive $16509.18 from the state this year. The 2 year road plan was completed. He was in contact with Jeff of DNR regarding road aid program and received a project questionnaire to fill out. He continues to look into other road funding. He has talked with a few people regarding how to fix truck #4 and will get more information and has not yet come to a decision.
SUPERVISOR LEPPER- Supervisor Lepper reported that the county recycling meeting was canceled. He received a Nicolet technology pamphlet of course offerings and found a grant writing class that may be beneficial for an involved community member. Supervisor Kessler expressed an interest.
FIRE DEPARTMENT – Fire Chief Ron King stated Saturday collection of items for Iron county children was successful. He gave an update on the Price Electric outside light. Equipment replacement continues. 2 people went to the traffic control class in the Summer and will provide training to the rest of the department.
FIRST RESPONDERS – No report; not present.
IRON COUNTY SUPERVISOR –No report; not present.
PLANNING COMMISSION – Peter Hatch reported there was a hearing last Tuesday regarding rezoning. The commission recommended approval. There will be a hearing next month for a conditional use permit or a variance.
SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER–No report; not present.
Adoption of 2018 Town Budget Pursuant to Section 60.40 (4) Wis. Statutes-
Treasurer provided revised copy of 2018 budget. Supervisor Lepper made a motion to accept the budget. Supervisor Kessler seconded, motion passed.
Application of Rezone Recommendation- from F-1 (forestry) District to R-3 (rural residential) District, Part of the NW ¼ of the NE ¼, Section 13, Township 41 North, Range 3 East, Town of Sherman, in accordance to the future land use plan. –
Supervisor Lepper made a motion to recommend approval of rezoning to the county. Supervisor Kessler seconded. Chair Luke abstained from voting. Motion passed.
Beaver Management/Control –Tabled from last meeting. Limited discussion occurred. Supervisor Kessler will follow up with a couple people who may be interested. Chair Luke made a motion to table to the March meeting. Supervisor Lepper seconded, motion passed.
Supervisor Lepper made a motion to approve minutes as presented. Supervisor Kessler seconded, motion passed.
Supervisor Kessler made a motion to pay vouchers as presented. Supervisor Lepper seconded, motion passed.
PUBLIC COMMENT/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS- Supervisor Kessler shared he wrote up a few rules for snowmobiles on town roads and had talked with some businesses. Supervisor Lepper recommended checking on the state snowmobile regulations. Board planned meeting for Wed 12/27/17 at 6:00 pm.
Supervisor Lepper made a motion to adjourn. Supervisor Kessler seconded, motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM
