TOWN OF SHERMAN BOARD MEETING

July 11, 2017

 

The meeting was called to order by Chair Gerald Luke at 6:00 p.m. Chair Gerald Luke stated that

officers were present, noting that Supervisor Mikula resigned as of June 30, 2017. Tracy Murrin, Deputy Clerk, would be filling in for Clerk Amy Slone. Chair Luke verified that the agenda was placed in all 4 locations as well as the town website. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

 

2. PUBLIC COMMENT: If the garage needs to be reached; call the town hall number @

715-583-4422 and follow menu instructions.

 

3. COMMUNICATIONS/ANNOUNCEMENTS & REPORTS:

 

CLERK Tracy Murrin stated that all approved minuted were posted on the website. Contact information for Supervisor Gary Kessler will be added to the town website.

 

TREASURER- Jerry Murrin gave the financial report.

 

CHAIRMAN: Chair Luke provided information the Chairs activities. Included permits for fireworks, town board vacancy, recycling issues, and paid holidays for the garage crew. Board consensus was to approve, including Memorial Day and 4th of July.

 

SUPERVISOR: Supervisor Kessler discussed some trees that needed to be removed and will have the cooperation of Price Electric. Mowing is showing improvement. Will be getting bill for beaver trapping.

 

FIRE DEPARTMENT: Chief Ron King stated that there were no calls in the last month. All regulators were checked. Corn Roast is in August.

 

FIRST RESPONDERS: No calls.

 

IRON COUNTY SUPERVISOR: Not present.

 

PLAN COMMISSION: No new business.

 

SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER: Not present.

 

AUTHORIZE METAL CLEAN-UP: Will be held on the 1st and 2nd of September through JB Disposal. Chair Luke made motion to approve; Supervisor Kessler seconded. Motion passed.

 

BARTENDER LICENSE APPLICATION: Chair Luke made motion to accept the application submitted by Abigail Lee. Supervisor Kessler seconded. Motion passed.

 

HIGHWAY ORDINANCE: Chair Luke made a motion to table the 2nd reading until the August Board Meeting and to have a workshop to discuss next Tuesday @ 10:00. Supervisor Kessler seconded. Motion passed.

 

AUTHORIZE BIDDING FOR RECLAIMED BLACKTOP SURFACE: Supervisor Kessler made a motion to authorize bid for 1.1 miles of reclaimed blacktop on Sandy Beach road. Luke seconded. Motion passed. An ad will be placed in the Iron County Miner today.

 

AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF CUTTIN EDGE FOR FRONT LOADER: Supervisor Kessler made a motion to table this for 3 months so we can see how much the Sandy Beach project costs. Chair Luke seconded. Motion passed.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES/PAYMENT OF VOUCHERS: Supervisor Kessler made a motion to approve the June 23th and 20th Board minutes. Chair Luke seconded. Motion passed. Supervisor Kessler made a motion for the vouchers to be approved. Chair Luke seconded. Motion passed.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT/FUTURE AGENDA: Board will continue to find funding for our roads.

It was suggested that a list of what can and cannot be accepted at Metal Clean-up be posted. An LED light will be purchased and installed ourselves.

 

ADJOURNMENT: Supervisor Kessler made a motion to adjourn meeting at 7:02. Chair Luke seconded. Motion passed.
